Re-assessment & Re-accreditation

Assessment

All accredited providers are re-assessed every three years to ensure that they continue to meet ODL QC Standards.    The re-assessment process is as follows:

1. Application for Assessment - All providers should submit a completed Application for Assessment (A2) form.    (Already-accredited providers do not need to re-register.)

2. Discussion with ODL QC - to select specific course(s) for assessment, agree on the circulation of questionnaires, taking of references, timing of a visit, and other matters.

3. Full submission - submission of all the material needed to undertake the assessment.

Full details are given in the Guide to Assessment and the Summary.    Relevant documents are given on the Forms page.    Please make all submissions electronically if possible.

Assessment aims to obtain a detailed picture of a provision that reliable assessment against our standards can be made.    The forms provided are one way to do this.

If, however, a provider believes this information can be provided in a more convenient format, this is also possible. This should be discussed with ODL QC at stage 2.

Current policy are that most re-assessments will include independent course assessment by a specialist, but not necessarily all.    Visits are required for all re-assessments.

The current minimum fee for re-assessment is £600; payment should be made at stage 1.    This will be more if foreign travel, or the assessment of more than one course, is needed.
