The Commonwealth of Learning is an international organisation created by Commonwealth Heads of Government to encourage the development and sharing of open learning/distance education resources and technologies.
The site is quick to load and simply laid out, with few frills or pictures, just a judicious use of colour to avoid dullness.
Resources include reports, briefings on Commonwealth initiatives, and good links world-wide to distance learning organisations.
There is an online newsletter Connections and EdTech News which, like many of the reports, is available to view or download at no cost.
One excellent recent report is on The Development of Virtual Education: A global perspective.
This 170 page report covers the whole world, with extensive chapters on Africa and Asia as well as America and Europe, with a wealth of links and references to the Virtual education movement which, if already a little out-of-date, nevertheless remains an invaluable resource.
Other recent reports are on Higher Education through ODL, and on The Facilitation of the Transfer of Learning Materials
