The sailing school Top Cat Cruising demonstrated the excellence of its distance learning provision yesterday, when it gained full ODL QC accreditation.

ODL QC has responsibility for promoting quality in all forms of Open and Distance Learning. To achieve accreditation providers must undergo a thorough assessment of administrative and tutorial methods, educational materials, and publicity.

Top Cat offers specialised face-to-face sailing courses both on the sea and in the classroom, and the RYA Day Skipper and Coastal Skipper courses by distance learning.

ODL QC Chief Executive, Dr Morley, applauded Jim Duerden, the school's Principal, for his enthusiastic and friendly approach, and praised the one-to-one relationships that he cultivates with his learners.

The school has been a RYA recognised cruising school for the last 10 years, and is now eligible to display the ODL QC Quality Mark and Guarantee. This proof of quality will give learners extra confidence in choosing to study with the school.
