Caltrop College, which offers courses in Security Management, has been awarded accreditation by the ODLQC. Set up in 1997 by four like-minded individuals intent on improving standards in security and premises management, the college draws on their complementary backgrounds in publishing, the forces, security management and training.

The distance-learning and taught courses provided by Caltrop College lead to nationally and internationally recognised awards, which, importantly, also satisfy the criteria of the Security Industry Authority (SIA). The SIA is introducing licencing for all security professionals, including directors, managers, supervisors, officers, consultants and investigators working within the various security sectors.

Lynn Watts-Plumpkin, Director of Training, said that the college is, “delighted to be officially recognised in this way and proud to join the register of ODLQC accredited organisations - something which clearly demonstrates our commitment to maintaining high standards now and in the future.”

She added, “I believe that it will give added confidence to students that their learning is being managed by a recognised professional organisation which has proved its excellence. Earning this distinction will also further strengthen Caltrop’s position within the world of security training.”

“Caltrop is an excellent new provider,” according to the ODL QC reporting assesor, which in many ways “stands comparison with the best in the sector.” The arrangements for tutor quality and consistency were the subject of particular praise.
