Avril Willis has been appointed as Director of Quality and Standards at the Learning and Skills Council. Ken Pascoe will be Director of Opreations, whilst Geoff Hall will be Director of Learning Programmes.

Last month, Lifelong Learning Minister Malcolm Wicks announced a major consultation into the future of National Training Organisations. A "clearer and stronger role for NTOs" is promised, together with a £45 million cash boost. See www.dfee.gov.uk

Brandon Hall, a leading e-learning analyst, has issued two major reports reviewing learning management systems and virtual classroom software. Whilst American and pricey, both have had good reviews.
Meanwhile market intelligence firm IDC have published two reports on e-learning in Europe, predicting the market will grow to $4 billion by 2004. Details of both items in elearning news, 17 January 2001
