The first port of call for anyone wanting to find out more about the British Council and its activities is the Council's website. Of particular interest for educational organisations and institutions is the section of the website entitled 'Services for Education and Training Exporters' because it is here that a comprehensive guide to the Council's work in promoting British education overseas is to be found.

In essence the British Council seeks to help educational exporters in three ways: firstly by acting as an information source for prospective learners and/or purchasers of education; secondly, by providing reference facilitities for educational enquiries; and thirdly, by bringing together educational providers and prospective purchasers of education.

In keeping with its role as a disseminator of information the Council maintains a database which enables individuals to conduct searches. At present this database is receiving in the order of three hundred hits per month and this number is rising steadily.
The Council is constantly extending the range of courses mentioned on the database.
