The School's association with Potchefstroom University means that the degree courses being offered are fully accredited and that Greenwich students who successfully submit their work from 1998 onwards will be awarded their degrees by an University which is an active member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities. The association between Greenwich School of Theology and Potchefstroom has been a positive learning experience for both organisations: Greenwich has needed to adapt to the established degree structure of Potchefstroom, in turn, the University is accepting of Greenwich's long-term liberal tradition.

Although mailing is regularly used, the practicalities of maintaining a close working relationship between two diversely situated establishments has been solved by the use of fax and e-mail. This enables both organisations to maintain a level of exchange which feels much like 'being in the next room'.

As might be expected, the first year of association between the Greenwich School of Theology and Potchefstroom has been challenging on all fronts: inevitably, practical changes have become necessary in the administration of registration and fees, but also 'fine-tuning' has been required in the processes and the harmonising of assessment procedures.

Greenwich School of Theology is looking forward now to the first joint convocation with Postchefstroom University, an occasion which is being organised by the Secretary of the School Dr Stuart Sime. It will be held at: The Church House Conference Centre, Westminster, London on Saturday 6 November 1999. The association between Greenwich and Potchefstroom will be celebrated that day in the best possible way with the conferring of initial and research degrees to mature students whose families and friends will be there to share in the pleasure.
