The Institute of Heraldic and Genealogical Studies is the leading school for teaching family history studies, training genealogists and record searchers, and providing courses in other subjects auxiliary to the study of local and family history.

The Institute is situated in its own freehold premises dating from the 13th & 16th centuries.  '  These house an extensive library, and an excellent collection of family historical records, original manuscripts and unique resources.

Their research team is involved in investigations into the histories of families with genetical propensities to inherited diseases, in support of medical research.    The library and research work is undertaken on all matters concerning heraldry, genealogy and related subjects.
