To develop candidates' understanding of the principles and essential skills practiced in the counselling process.

On completion of the programme, the individual will be able to:

• Recognise the importance of personal development and self-awareness in counselling.
• Describe the various counselling methods, with regard to:
  • the appropriateness of the various methods in a range of contexts,
  • ethical considerations,
  • the principles of client centred counselling.
• Practice counselling skills in a variety of situations.

There are no rigid prior learning requirements for this programme.
