Introducing Childminding Practice

This course has been developed in partnership with NCMA and CACHE to meet the needs of childminders in England and Wales at the point of registration with their local authority. It is a legal requirement for childminders to be registered, and government policy is moving in the direction of making basic training compulsory. Studying for this award while going through the registration process is a great first step towards your new career in childminding.

It helps you:

  • gain the Introducing Childminding Practice award from CACHE
  • progress to the CACHE Certificate in Childminding Practice
  • acquire the underpinning knowledge needed for the S/NVQ in Early Years Care and Education Level 3.

Topics include:

  • providing play and other activities
  • managing children's behaviour
  • developing relationships with parents
  • establishing a safe environment for young children
  • starting up a childminding business.

You should ideally have some experience of child care before you start this course, and be 18 years old or over.

You can read comments from past learners on the NEC website
