Diploma in Pre-school Practice

Developed in partnership with the Pre-school Learning Alliance, the Diploma in Pre-school Practice offers a flexible and accessible route to this award, and the only distance learning route. Building on the success of the previous award, there are now optional expanded modules on babies and special needs. The revised materials address the new Early Learning Goals for children's learning and OFSTED regulation and inspection.

The course is ideal for full-, part-time or volunteer early years workers and can be used in the workplace or in college.

The materials cover all aspects of working in a playgroup, nursery or pre-school.

This course can help you

  • gain the Introduction to Pre-school Practice award
  • gain the skills needed to supervise young children
  • gain the CACHE Diploma in Pre-school Practice
  • acquire the underpinning knowledge needed for an Early Years Care and Education S/NVQ

Candidates will need access to an early years setting (minimum eight hours a week, and no less than 150 hours in total) during their course for assignement work. You also need to be 18 years old or over.

You can read comments from past learners on the NEC website
