Providers overseas

{No recommendation or endorsement by ODL QC should be inferred for any provision in this list}

The situation in other countries is complex, and varies a lot from one to another.    Some countries have organisations which offer a similar service to ODL QC.    For example DETC is the USA equivalent to ODL QC.

In others, the best source of information could be the local distance learning association.    For example:

  • EADL, the European Association for Distance Learning, can offer advice on courses in a range of European countries;
  • NADE, the Norwegian Association for Distance and Flexible Education;
  • The Forum DistancE Learning in Germany
  • Paepon in the Netherlands, or
  • CHANED in France.

In the USA

The definitive source of information on accredited schools is on a site run by the Office of Postsecondary Education of the US Department of Education.

Overall approval of higher education is done by CHEA, the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.

Other US sources of information are:

  • Bear's guide to earning degrees by distance learning (Ten Speed Press, 16th edition, 2006); a major source of information on non-accredited universities worldwide.
  • Links from Get Educated
  • Petersons courses listed by a USA educational information company

Some details of courses in Australia are on the OTEN site.
