The distance-learning and taught courses provided by the Caltrop College are towards the Certificate in Security Management (City & Guilds accredited) and Diploma in Security Management (NCFE accredited) professional qualifications of the International Institute of Security (IISec). These awards are recognised both nationally and internationally and the Caltrop College is the IISec approved manager and provider for both courses levels, helping students through to either Member (MIISec) or Diplomate (Dip.IISec) status. Importantly, these qualifications also satisfy the criteria of the Security Industry Authority (SIA) which was set up by the Government to impose minimum standards on the private security industry, in terms of both monitoring and training. The SIA is introducing licencing for all security professionals, including directors, managers, supervisors, officers, consultants and investigators working within the various security sectors.
