For Accredited ProvidersEach provider has its own page on the ODL QC website, describing their provision, with their logo, a link to their site, and contact details, instantly confirming their accreditation by ODL QC. Provider pages enjoy good search engine visibility, ensuring that confirmation of accreditation is readily available to the browser and to the searcher. The last survey showed that searches for accredited providers by name yielded a link to the ODL QC provider page in the first page of Google results for over 90% of providers; the average position on the page was between 5th and 6th. Links from a provider’s website to www.odlqc.org.uk also helps to confirm the provider's quality, reassuring would-be learners. We are happy to provide assistance in establishing links. The Course of the Week feature, with a link from the ODL QC home page, showcases specific courses and helps generate extra leads for the provider. A news items feature, also with links on the ODL QC home page, allows providers to announce any significant developments to a wider audience. Other occasional articles offer further support. Press releases on accreditation and re-accreditation are also posted, so that learners can see for themselves the regular nature and reliability of the assessment process. |
For prospective learners and othersThe ODL QC website is also a resource for all. And frequent site updates mean there is usually something new to see. The site offers a gateway through which prospective learners can find the course they want from a quality-assured provider. The Courses Index is one of the most popular sections of the site. This simple to use facility features only courses from providers accredited by ODL QC. Subject guides in particular areas also help prospective learners find appropriate courses to meet their needs. The learners pages also offer general advice, and the spell out the importance of quality in open and distance learning. Advice to providers is also available: guidance on good practice across a wide range of common concerns. There is an in-site search engine, and future developments will include a “members’ area” for accredited providers, incorporating pieces from the ODL QC ezine, quodlibs. Numerous career and employment centres, libraries, British Council offices, and other organisations link directly to our site (and therefore to details of ODL QC Accredited Providers). |
