Before you begin we advise that you read D1: Brief Guide to Assessment  to view the details of accreditation. The following is a summary of ODL QC accreditation process:

1. Registration
Purpose:
To confirm the willingness of both provider and ODL QC to work towards accreditation
Tasks:
Complete & Submit form A1: Registration and appropriate cheque.
Timing:
Any (three months are required between registration and the target Council Meeting)
Fee:
£100 (UK-based) or £250 (Non-UK-based providers).
2. Application
Purpose:
To agree overall parameters and timing of the assessment process.
Tasks:
dot Complete & Submit form A2: Application Form
dot Agree overall timetable with ODL QC
Timing:
Any time after registration; normally at least two months prior to the target Council Meeting.
Fee:
£500 (more in certain circumstances)
3. Working towards assessment
Purpose:
Preparation for assessment.
Tasks:
dot Discussion and confirmation of details set out in form A2 (by email or telephone).
dot Begin collation of Course Assessment Packs (as soon as courses agreed).
dot Circulation of questionnaires to learners.
dot Circulation of questionnaires to tutors.
dot Submission of Course Assessment Packs to specialist assessor(s) & ODL QC.
dot Fix date for assessment visit (if required by ODL QC).
Timing:
As soon as possible after application details agreed.

4. Full Submission & Assessment
Tasks:
dot Make full submission to ODL QC: forms together with supporting materials.
dot Visit from assessor.
dot Agree quote and circulation of Press release (assuming application is successful)
Timing:
At least one week prior to the visit and/or three weeks prior to the target Council meeting.
Fee:
Any additional assessment fee agreed with ODL QC.
5. Council Meeting
Purpose:
Formal decision by Council as to whether or not to grant accreditation.

6. Following Accreditation
All accredited providers are re-assessed prior to reconsideration within three years of accreditation
Fee:
Annual Fees are charged to accredited providers; details on request.
