Accreditation
format bar

Accreditation aims to establish a dialogue through which provision can be assessed, and where possible improved.

Providers are evaluated against both their own stated objectives, and the Standards in Open and Distance Learning.    The process normally takes between two and six months.

A fee is payable to cover the cost of assessment.    The provider can minimise this by ensuring they are thorough in their submission.    Accredited providers pay an annual fee linked to turnover, and can use the ODL QC Quality Mark to show their acheivement.

Any well-run, ethical organisation is capable of meeting the Standards.    If problems arise, the Council works with the provider to help them reach the standard required.

If a provider is just developing their open and distance learning provision, they can apply for New Provider Status while they prepare for full accreditation.    Details of how to apply are on the applications page.
