Registration

Registration is the first stage towards building a relationship with ODL QC.

To register you should submit:

  • a completed Registration Form;
  • a prospectus or other publicity materials;
  • a providers statement;
  • a list of 3 referees;
  • a cheque for £100 / £250 (see fees).

Full details are given in the Registration Form and accompanying notes (D2)

Once we have received and checked your completed registration form, we will acknowledge receipt.

If key information on the provider (name, ownership, contact details etc) is kept up to date by the provider, registration can normally be continued indefinitely without payment of a further fee.

Registration of a provider with ODL QC cannot normally be made public.

Application for Assessment

To apply for assessment you should complete the Application Form (A2) and submit it together with a cheque to cover the application fee of £100.

You can register and apply for assessment at the same time if you wish.    No consideration of assessment (and possible subsequent accreditation) can take place unless the provider is both registered with ODL QC and has applied for assessment.

Special statements are required on application for:

  • International providers, that is those based outside the United Kingdom;
  • those who offer courses leding to degrees, or who call themselves Universities.
Please check the appropriate pages before registering and making your application.

Both registration & application should be made by post. Please ensure that the form is signed, and copies of all relevant materials and statements, and a cheque, are also included.

What happens next

Once received, all applications for assessment are reviewed and put before the next meeting of Council for preliminary consideration.

If accepted your provision will be listed on our website as a provider seeking accreditation.

Further details of what happens next are set out on the process page.

This will be deducted in full from the assessment fee if you make a full submission within six months of application.

Application Fee.    This is currently £100.

Assessment Fee.    This covers the assessment process.    The amount will vary, depending on the scale and timing of the assessment required, and is agreed between ODL QC and the provider following application.

As a guide, the assessment of most small and medium-sized providers offering only a limited range of courses can normally be accomplished for £500.

Annual Fees.    These are charged to all accredited providers and are based on a small percentage of their income from their open and distance learning provision.

Cheques should be made payable to ODL QC.    All fees are non-refundable.
