ODL QC was founded in 1969 as the Council for the Accreditation of Correspondence Colleges. It is an independent body, though it was set up at the request of government, and has continued to benefit from governmental support and cooperation. It is a registered charity. For 30 years the Council has helped to enhance quality in education and training, and to protect the interests of learners, through the accreditation of open and distance learning providers. Accreditation includes a rigorous assessment of a college's administrative and tutorial methods, educational materials and publicity. Accredited colleges are monitored to ensure that students continue to receive good service, and are re-assessed at least once every three years. Council includes representatives of accredited colleges as well as members drawn from professional and public bodies involved in education, chosen for their ability to contribute to the work of the Council and all highly qualified in their own particular fields. This site lists all currently accredited colleges and the courses they offer. Please note that ODL QC is an accrediting body, and does not offer any courses itself. For more information on any of the courses listed, please contact the relevant college(s) directly. General advice on how to buy a distance learning course is also offered in the buyer's guide. |
