ODL QC is the UK guardian of quality in open and distance learning. Set up originally by government in 1968, we are now independent. For the provider Accreditation is open to all providers of home study, distance learning, online or e-learning and other open learning or flexible learning courses. So why do all rest persist with a publicly funded, mainly face-to-face model? 24 August 2010 Private sector in the US under fire Undercover tests by the US Government Accountability Office (GAO) at 15 for-profit colleges in the US found that 4 colleges encouraged fraudulent practices and that all 15 made deceptive or otherwise questionable statements to GAO’s undercover applicants.
