The Art of Writing Poetry |
For any budding poet, this course explains how to find ideas and discusses
the creative process. It show you how to develop style, theme and subject
matter while using grammar and punctuation appropriately.
For those who want something more structured than free verse it looks at
rhythm and metre (remember those iambic pentameters, trochees and dactyls?),
rhyme and the various different forms you can choose to express your ideas.
On the lighter side it covers writing for special occasions and spcial
people and performance poetry. Finally, it provides essential information
on publishing your poems.
There are six tutor-marked assignments where you can submit your own poems
for help and appraisal by the author of the course.
So, if you fancy yourself as the laureate of the future, this is the course
for you!
The Writers Bureau says: "The course was written for us by Alison Chisholme
who speaks on the subject and tutors at a number of high-profile events each
year; writes in a variety of magazines; adjudicates competitions as well as
finding time to write her own poetry and publish books on the subject. As
you can see, you'd be hard pressed to find a better source of help and
advice."
