Being a teaching assistant is a great job – it’s challenging work with flexible hours and holidays when the kids are at home. And schools all around the country are realising the advantages of hiring teaching assistants. But how do you get the skills needed to do the job? Thanks to the Learning Institute, you can now acquire those skills by studying at home. The Teaching Assistant's Diploma course covers everything that a teaching assistant needs to know. The topics include numeracy, literacy and oracy. They also cover pastoral care, the UK education system and working in a classroom. The course also provides practical advice on looking for a job, applying for a position and preparing for the interview. After successfully completing the course, students get the Institute’s Diploma. The course itself is fully accredited by ASET, and on completing it you get a national award equivalent to Level 3 of the National Learning Framework (A level equivalent). ASET is a national Awarding Body recognised by the Department for Education and Skills and by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority in Britain. It has been accrediting vocational learning for more than 50 years and now works with more than 200 providers in the UK and internationally.
You study the course at home, at your own pace, supported by a skilled tutor. On average, students take six months to complete the course. Students also receive nine tutor marked assignments, a text book, a teaching assistant's manual full of useful information and resources, and a study guide and planner. |
