The Courses Guide

All ODL QC Accredited Providers have an entry in the Courses Guide.

An individual entry allows them to describe their philosophy and the character of their provision, and give contact details.

The courses index gives a flavour of the range of courses available, and a separate list shows the nationally awarded qualifications that can be achieved with accredited providers. All courses are referenced by provider, so when the learner has chosen a subject, they can contact the relevant provider direct.

Together with referrals from the ODL QC helpline and the website, the Courses Guide can generate significant new business.

With a five-figure annual distribution to a wide variety of outlets, from colleges and careers centres nation-wide to British Council offices all over the world, the Courses booklet is a popular way to find a high quality course.

The Buyer's Guide

First published in January 2001, the Buyer's Guide to Distance Learning has been warmly welcomed by the press, individuals and organisations who advise on education. It plays a pivotal function in our task of supplying reliable and consistent information to prospective learners.

Short, and to the point, the guide suggests what to ask before buying a course, helping learners to make informed choices about the courses available, and reassuring them that they will obtain the level and quality they desire.

Thousands of copies are sent free of charge to:

  • careers centres,
  • libraries,
  • Citizens Advice Bureaux,
  • Further Education colleges,
  • awarding bodies,
  • learndirect,
  • and the Learning and Skills Council. Demand for copies is gratifyingly high.

The guide is available online, and editors of career guidance and educational websites have chosen to link directly to it.
